On May 20th our third team from Grace University in Omaha, NE, arrived in Kunming. They had already been in Beijing for a week and would now spend the remainder of their time in our neck of the woods. The team usually consists of Business and Teacher Education majors, but this year we also had a Communications major. The past two times the students have been heavily involved in our work at Chicago Coffee with English corners, meeting people, and shadowing Chris as he showed them the complexities of doing business in China, but this year was different. This year the students were involved in multiple English corners around the city. They interviewed like minded BAM business owners, spent time in orphanages and at poor schools, and helped lead discussions at a local universities business English classes.
This year because of my work at Eden they also got to meet the girls at the shelter, go to the workshop, do English activities, and get a glimpse of that incredible ministry.
It was a jammed packed three weeks, and I loved hosting them. They were all incredibly flexible and cheerful, and they reached out to the locals they met and had meaningful conversations. I hope that their experiences were positive, and that some of them will consider full time overseas work in the future.
And of course the best thing about having the team from Grace here is that my mother-in-law is one of the professors in charge of the trip so she get's to come too!!! We loved having her here and look forward to when she can come again!
